Dear All,

I am assigned the Country ambassador in the United Arab Emirates of COP in My City for 2014 and we are soon to organise events for the same. This is an opportunity open to all High school and University Students across UAE, from various schools, groups and universities and more to actively participate in this campaign.

In a few words:

COP in MyCity is an International Youth Climate Mobilization Project, designed and coordinated by the organization CliMates.

Concretely, many cities are organizing their own mobilization in order to bridge the gap between the city and the COP (Conference of Parties), raising awareness of young people and enhance concrete local projects to fight against climate change. We propose you a fun project that will enable you to join our community of young change-makers.

COP20, December this year, will happen in Lima.

COP in My City in Dubai will undergo three steps:

1) In October ( late )-November ( early ) 2014

One Day Event on Weekend

- Before the COP This step is devoted to participants training on climate change with the team carrying out aconference about climate and energy issues and asimulation of the COP, where participants will assume the role of a country diplomats and negotiate between them just like in real life! Our Focus will be in context to the local environment issues.

2) Early December 2014

Half day event on the weekend

- During the COP: This stage is dedicated to mobilising Lima in My City participants through the different events and activities (flashmobs, communication events live with COP, awareness workshops) These specific projects seeks to empower young participants by sharing with the community and local governments what is climate change and what can be done locally to combat it.

3) Followed by Debriefing and Reporting for this year

- After the COP  This stage is dedicated to a global project debriefing in order to prepare the 2015 COP in MyCity edition.
