When a question of "Are our developmental works really hampering our environment?" is asked. Answer will be definitely "Yes". In the case of developing country like Nepal, various development activities are taking place at rural and local areas without taking into consideration of its impact on environment.

Development activities being carried out are causing deforestation, landslide, air water and land pollution. Although there is provision of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and IEE. Due to corruption, unstable government, lack of proper policies, implementation of the laws, environmental has been seriously affected.

For country with high scope in tourism due its natural beauty and natural resources, its natural beauty are are found destructed which is sure to hamper the tourism business of the country. Although some steps are taken for the big projects, small projects are found neglected without considering the big impacts that can be caused by small acts.

Environmental sustainability should be carried through sustainable development. EIA acts should be formed and strictly implemented in order to reduce the environmental impacts of developmental works on environment. I wish to hear an answer "No" when asked "Are our developmental works really hampering our environment?"
