Improper Disposal of plastic waste

Coming from a city such as Hyderabad- ( The 4th most polluted city in India) Did not only give me an insight into what pollution looks like but also the dangers of it. In the harmful dust, and smoke it¡¯s not very odd to find the plastic being burnt now and then. Due to the improper disposal of plastic, piles and piles of plastic are being dumped in the streets, canals, and rivers. Most of the plastic dumped in the streets gets piled up and burnt altogether, with a huge amount of smoke and a lot of harmful toxins such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and polycyclic organic matter (POMs). Which are very poisonous gases released into the atmosphere.

Due to the increased amount of plastic consumption, plastic waste would be at an all-time spike. And this would also lead to many diseases, which impact not only humans but also animals. These wide range of diseases include- stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, trachea, bronchus and lung cancers, aggravated asthma and lower respiratory infections

Unburned portions of the plastic become litter on the ground and in lakes and rivers. And most of them end up as microplastics in the oceans. Larger pieces of plastic can become a breeding ground for diseases, such as trapping water that provides habitat for mosquitoes in terms of large dumping grounds.
