Electricity is a renewable energy that has a lot of potential. Electricity is used to charge our phones and laptop. There are also stoves that use electricity instead of gas. Currently, there are cars and motorcycle that uses electricity. The usage of electric stove is getting common. However, the usage of electric motorcycle and car for now are for people who have money. There is also an electric bike that can be used. One of Indonesia transportation itself, Transjakarta, is releasing three units of electric buses for use to the public. The fare for this electricity TransJakarta would be the same as any petrol bus. |

Hello Ida
Thank you for the explanation about electricity. We can think of many ways of generating electricity. For example, there are burning of fossil fuels, solar energy, hydropower, and many other ways. Those are the energy sources that can make electricity, which people use for their daily lives. To sum up, what I mean is that electricity is not renewable energy itself, but there are renewable energy sources that can generate electricity. However, you mentioned some good examples of how electricity can replace gas or car fuels.
Thank you for the great report.
Keep up the good work.

Hey Ida!
This is Lisa.
I think some of the facts about electricity need to be made clear
when we say of the electricity, it is renewable energy and is not at the same time.
Electricity can be generated with many different sources including solar and wind power which are well-known renewable energy generating methods, it is renewable. Yet, the traditional and also the most commonly used method to generate electricity is fossil fuels which are definitely not renewable.
Hence, I think regarding the electricity, we have to be careful in defining it as renewable energy or not!
For Transjakarta as well, if the turbines used to produce electricity are powered by fossil fuels, we cannot say it's completely renewable yet it may still be less environmentally harmful than other types of transportations that rely solely on the fossil fuels.
Thanks for you work and I recommend you to do more research on electricity as renewable energy! It would be interesting:)
