10 times the size of Texas, which is the biggest rainforest in the world, is often called the ' Earth's lungs ' and 60% of it lies within Brazil. Every year, Trees stores atmospheric carbon absorbed from Amazon as a greenhouse gas that adds to global warming and in fact takes in 2 billion tons of carbon dioxides. It is home to approximately 20% of the world's plant species, many of which have no other location. This year, on Thursday, the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research, which monitors deforestation, reported 76.720 wildfires across the nation. This is an 85% increase compared with the figure last year. A little over half of the 40,341 in the Amazon region was found. "It's very hard to have natural fires in the Amazon, Paulo Moutinho, cofounder of the Amazon Environmental Research Institute said this week. But most come from people¡¯s hands." Due to deforestation, scientists estimate that we are near the tipping point where the Amazon can no longer function as a carbon sink. Brazil¡¯s Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world and a vital carbon store. Smoke plumes have spread throughout the Amazon and beyond.According to the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (Cams), a part of the European Union's Earth observation programme, the smoke has been travelling as far as the Atlantic coast. In São Paulo, even skies have darkened While there is no way to stop the fires in a plane and fly with firehoses to Brazil, you can do a few kinds of stuff to support the rain forest, which is perhaps less enjoyable than dousing the fire, but can have a long-term effect:

Hi Rafa,
I have to admit that this is a serious issue and this issue should be dealt with a sense of urgency because this may possible impact us all. Rain forests are important as they keep our ecosystem running. We all should give a hand in protecting Amazon!

Hello Rafa
I do hope that you are fine and doing great with your works.
Thank you for your report about fire in the Amazon Forest. It is the worlds largest rainforest and contribute largely to the worlds oxygen. This is really sad news and that the fire has caused so much destruction to the forest. We must protect our forest.
Green Cheers from Nepal :)
Keep writing great reports.
We are eager to read more reports from you.

Hello Rafa ,
It is indeed a big issue and we have to face lots of climatic impacts because of it .Lets stop consuming beef ( Brazil??s Major Export) and use less papers ( most paper come from Amazon Rainforest) in a bid from our sides to tackle this problem .We should learn a lesson and never ever try to destroy nature just for temporary human benefits .
Green Cheers from Sagar

Hey there Rafa!
I hope you are well today fellow ambassador! I also read on other articles that large hectares of land and forest are being destroyed by this raging fire. This has not happened in previous years but we now seen rise which is devastating! I hope the national authorities see this as a problem that needs urgent on-site. We cannot afford to lose our precious lungs at this stage.
Especially now that we are facing climate chnage and global warming.
Thank you for keeping the Platform updated with the issues on the Amazon Rafa!
With gratitude,
Rosa

Hello Rafa
This is certainly a serious issue and I'm worried that Amazon forest might lose its title as the earth's lung or home of wild animals. People must realize that every piece of paper we use result in deforestation. Thank you for sharing a list of organizations we can support to protect the rain forests.
