Sustainable development and equality[Free report]

Sustainable development is the sum total of social progress, climate, environment and economic development. But the key that keeps them all together is equality. It is only with the help of equality that any of those development factors can work together.
"Sustainable development is threatened by inequality" stated the former US president Barack Obama up on addressing the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. Reduced inequalities is actually the tenth sustainable development goal and is the most crucial one in my opinion. I believe that it is the one factor that could make or break all the other goals, if achieved or focused upon, it will make it easier to meet the goals by 2030 and if not, well, we can kiss goodbye any hope of development for the future generation.
Studies found that 80 rich individuals have the same wealth as the bottom 50% of the world's population. This is unequal distribution of wealth and power. It is the same as how 8 rich people in the world have the same wealth as 3.6 billion people. Now I do  not see how it is the fault of the rich people but it is just that there needs to be equal distribution.
Another inequality which is a major problem the international society is trying to tackle is gender inequality. Recent studies show that women work about 70% of the world's working hours and yet they earn only 10% of the world's income. Now this is plain wrong and this is even without considering how there is inequality when it comes to earnings where women get less payment from the same job while men earn more.
The tenth goal is to reduce such inequalities worldwide so that nobody is left behind. It is realistic in the best way possible as it is to 'reduce' because eradicating inequality is impossible but it does not hurt to try so, instead, UN is aiming to reduce inequality. So I support Goal 10 (Reduced Inequality) and so should you.

    Hey there Merry.

I hope you are well! Truely, keeping the goals on track would need one stand point underwhich we all unite and that is equality.

I do concur with what you have stsaed in your report. In that, there should be equal distribution of wealth and power global for all. And that women should be given equal rights and our male counterparts.

Thank you for reflecting this piece to us Merry. Very informative!

Keep up rolling the good work!
    With gratitude

    Hello Merry

Thank you for sharing your report on Sustainable development goal 10 inequality. Both wealth inequality and gender inequality are pressing social problems as they can dampen educational opportunities or worsen environmental conditions. Thus, reducing inequality will not only help to fulfill number 10 but it will also help to achieve other sustainable development goals too. I look forward to reading more reports from you!
