Biodiversity can be referred to as the variability among living organisms (plants and animals) including terrestrial, marine, and other aquatic ecosystem. It also deals with the ecological complexes of which the organisms are part such as diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems. The diversity of life on earth, is ver vital to the healthy functioning of ecosystems. But due to some unfriendly results of the ever-increasing population of human beings, many species have been lost to extinction. The causes of species extinction are; Use of Natural Resources An increase in population will lead to increase in the demand of a particular commodity which will eventually lead to increased production, an action that will lead to increase in the use of available natural resources. The continous consumption of resources such as timber, oil and other minerals by man destroys natural habitats and displaces many species. Similarly, the consumption of wild life in developing countries and increasing dependence of aquatic life has placed pressure on wild species and water species respectively. Global Warming As the increase in the industrial activities of human being increases, so is the rate of emission of harmful gases which have resulted to global temperature increase. Unfurtunately a degree rise in atmospheric temperature has a serious damage on ecosystems as it forces temperature-sensitive organisms like corals out of their habitats, strugling to survive in a unfriendly environment. Human Movement The human decision to visit some countries and travel round the world is one of the factors that result to loss of biodiversity as it has led to introduction of foreign organisms and animals in an enitrely new regions where some are predators to the hosts. This has therefore affected many ecosystems and have endangered some species. Waste and Pollution Water bodies around us are becoming polluted with wastes from both domestic and industrial activities which is killing millions of aquatic animals. It is no longer a news concerning the report that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the sea.The increase in human population has really lead to indiscriminate disposal of waste, in particular hazardous waste, and the increasing rate calls for immediate attention. Other pollution such as noise, light and chemical pollution can disrupt wildlife behaviour. Light from human activities disturbs predator and hinder them from catch their pray. Noise pollution from human actions interrupts and distracts hunting and mating animals, thereby affecting natural behaviour. We have heard and read that with current situation of extinction of many species and the possibility of many species to go on extinction, that in the next few years, there won't be much biodiversity on planet Earth. Unfortunately, we are yet to read much about the global or regional actions and moves taken by the government and organizations to reduce biodiversity loss. It is good to have discovered a problem, it is best to solve it. Therefore, it is time we took actions to control biodiversity loss.

Hello israel
Biodiversity is being exploited. This is seriously serious case.
Action should be made individually and from national as well as international level.
Green cheers...

Greetings Israel,
In this report you taught us many reasons that led to species extinction.
Depletion of natural resources, global warming, human movement, and waste pollution all seem to be serious issues that need to be solved.
The disruption of ecosystem will surely lead to worse problems in the future.
And you're right - NGOs, governments, various organizations, and we need to act upon this matter.

Hello Israel
Thank you for your well organized reoort on the factors that lead to the loss of biodiversity. Ever inceeasing population and subsequent increase of natural resources seem to be the biggest leading factor. As you have pointed out, we should get down to solving these problems. Hank you for sharing your report!!

Hi Israel,
Thank you for your detailed analysis about the factors that can contribute to the loss of biodiversity. I totally agree to your comment that 'we are yet to read much about the global or regional actions and moves taken by the government and organizations to reduce biodiversity loss. ' The relevant parties including the government and NGOs should take more active actions to protect our earth and biodiversity. Please keep up with the good work!
