It feels extremely sad that air pollution levels are rising in India each day. Recently a study revealed that 7 out of 10 world's worst air polluted cities are in India. And my home city is on 7th number in this list. The 92 most-polluted cities of the world all had an "unhealthy" average annual presence of the particles, which can penetrate deep in the lungs and bloodstream and cause a wide range of adverse health effects, including premature death in the most extreme cases. The open burning of waste is one of the major cause for air pollution in India as it leads to the exposure of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, mercury, dioxins, etc. There are various other reasons for air pollution in India including mass burning of crop residue, traffic congestion, use of public vehicles with obsolete engines releasing harmful gases open to the environment. Not only the air outside your house is polluted but the air inside your house is polluted too. We need to care about that as well. there are various air purifiers available in the market and the markets of air purifiers are increasing with air pollution. Just like the need of other machines in the house this new machine is also becoming important. But there are other ways to clean your environment and your interior space. These are indoor plants which does not need so much sunlight but continuously produces Oxygen and refreshes the air and is also cost effective. And this will also help you to give your house a new look and some greenery and peace. I am going to introduce some of these plants to you. Some of these can be very easily found. These include snake plants or mother in law tongue's plant, money plant, areca palm and many more. I am including some pictures of these plants that I planted inside my house. These plants can be easily grown from cuttings. I have put cuttings of money plant and snake plant into glasses of water for 2- 3 weeks so that the roots will grow. After which I will plant them into soil for their better and fast growth. Thanks for reading! |

Greetings Muskan,
This is a very informative report because as you've mentioned, it is important to keep the air quality inside the house because that's where we spend most of our time in.
Not only are they helpful to managing our air, they have real aestheic value to them as well, as can be seen through your photo.
Congratulations on a beautifully written report!
Sincerely,

Hi Muskan,
Thank you so much for this report and I am very impressed with the part where you wrote about the indoor air pollution. In fact, many people tend to neglect the danger of the indoor air pollution because they do think the indoor will have the poor air quality, but the very sad truth is indoor air pollution is also a serious issue. I'd love to invite everyone to come and read your report for their understanding. :)

Hello Muskan
Thank you for your wonderful report about air pollution in India. It??s sad to hear that your home city was on the 7th list of worst air polluted cities. Burning of waste and mass burning of crop residual must be reduced for the health of people. Also, the way you deal with indoor air pollution is very impressive. Planting a plant is definitely one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to purify indoor air. Thank you for sharing your own way of improving air quality. : )
