by shamim ahmed mridha | 01-04-2019 02:33 recommendations 0

Last Monday, a group of students from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) visited the largest landfill site in Bangladesh. The size of this landfill is 72 acre & there are 4 platform. This landfill is designed in 2007 & it will be filled up by this year.
Students visied the whole landfill site & learnt about the formation of gas & leachate practically. it was undoubtedly a great experience for the branches of young minds. Bio-gas is produced from this landfill site & it is used in various purpose. There is a treatment plant as well in this landfill site & that helps to purify the leachate & converted them into safe water.

    Hello Shamin

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! As the problems of fossil fuel are becoming clear, a great number of researches on sustainable energy are ongoing. I am sure that waster energy such as bio-gas will be one of the alternatives. Thank you again for your report and it will be very helpful if you can share what you learnt in the landfill in detail with Tunza ambassadors!

    Hey there Shamim,

I hope you are well! I hope you had a good experience at the landfill site. The landfill site is very developed. I have not come across a landfill site that takes their leachate and alter it to safe water.

We need more of such landfill sites, because landfills have a negative effect on our ground water system. Even if they try to design it far from a groundwater source.

    Thank you for reporting Shamim!
    Yours sincerely,
    Rosa
