VUZEKOFEST is an annual inter-university festival in the field of ecology and sustainable development. Each year in April, universities together prepare ecologic activities to improve our environment.

The mission of the festival is to improve the environment in Belarus by introducing the concept of "green" universities and integrating the principles of sustainable development into the activities of universities through disclosing the leadership potential of young people in the implementation of environmental initiatives.

The festival gives participants the opportunity to influence the development of their city and contribute to its sustainable development.

The VUZEKOFEST project is based on the idea of ​​a “green university”. Green  university is responsible for the environment and creates conditions for students, staff and guests to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle. In such a university, separate waste collection has been established, energy-efficient technologies are being introduced, bicycle infrastructure is being developed, and measures are being taken to eco-lead and promote an ecological culture. We all would like to study and work in such a university! Our project aims to ensure that as many Belarusian universities as possible implement the concept of a “green university”.

To this end, we hold environmental education events, such as trainings for ecoliders, lectures and master classes on eco-friendly lifestyle. We tell on them how every student or employee can help his university to become green. Some project participants are already implementing green infrastructure in their universities. We help them build a team, find partners, and effectively work.

WHY UNIVERSITIES AND STUDENTS?

Students are future employees of government, non-profit and business structures. In 15-20 years they will make key decisions in the country. We want such decisions to be made by environmentally responsible people. To this end, we strive to interest students in the idea of ​​a greener lifestyle and increase their level of responsibility for the future of their planet.
