A Trend in Plastic Straw Alternative |

There is a variety of plastic straw alternative ranging from bamboo straw to glass straw. The most favored one would be the stainless steel straw due to its cheap price and durability. Before, these alternatives would usually be owned and used by environmentalist only. Now, the common people have started to own and use them as well. From my observation on social media, there are a handful of people I follow that are selling stainless steel straw and also people who uses them as well. These straws have a variety of colors, like gold and black. They have different models as well, which are straight straw, bent straw, and larger tube straw. They can be bought in packets or per pieces. Whatever may be the choice, these straws would definitely come with a brush cleaner. The brush cleaner is important for cleaning the inside of the straw, making sure that no residue from the previous drink is left inside. Seeing my friends using stainless steel straw to drink, I can say that the use of plastic straw is slowly decreasing. I don’t know what exactly made this trend happen, but I have suspicions that it is due to the banning of plastic straw in a couple of fast food chains. |

Hi Ida!
Yes metal straws has been picking up speed lately due to the low risk it has affecting the environment. And I'm glad that you put this on your report because I believe many people are unaware that metal straws are being used today in restaurants or being sold in supermarkets.
So far, I went to two restaurants and they still sold paper straws now that they've moved out of plastic straws. I still believe that paper straws are bad for the environment but overtime, hopefully the metal straws trend will ensure that both paper and plastic straws are abolished.

Plastic pollution is a huge problem already and our small act of throwing the plastic waste are contributing to huge amount. I really loved your article where you have elaborated about the use of plastic pollution. We can together beat plastic pollution with our proper acts of reuse, recycle and reuse.
