Hello everyone,

In this report, I would like to introduce you to another magnificent place in my region. It is called Tatra mountains. They are located in the south part of Poland and they are characterised by the alpine environment. Actually, in this mountain range, it is possible to find the highest point in Poland which is called Rysy (2499 m)[i]. As with all natural environments, it is actually located across different countries including Slovakia[ii].

Tatra mountains are protected by the Tatra Natural Park, as well as UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves, together with Tatra National Park in Slovakia [iii].

The climate and for a and fauna in Tatar mountains is characterised by the division for “levels” depending on the height above the sea level. While on lower altitudes, it is possible to find higher coniferous trees, on the top on the summits, it is possible to find grass and plants typical for alpine environment and climate[iv].

To some most characteristic species that inhabit this region, belong Tatra chamois[v].

Tatar mountains is characterised by its diverse fauna and flora. In addition, it is possible to find there some endemic species, such as a caddis fly[vi].

Thanks to the beauty of nature and the diversity of different environmental forms, Tatar mountains is a place which many tourists visit during both summer and winter holidays. During the winter, it is possible to arrange ski tours, while during the summer, it is a perfect place for hiking.

One of the most important and most popular places of visit during the touristic hikes is called “Morskie Oko”, which in translated into English is “marine eye”. It is the largest lake in this National Park[vii]. Its beauty and wildness not only attracts many tourists to spend some time there, but also influences many artists to create pieces of art that include this masterpiece of nature on their drawings or paintings[viii].

To sum up, Tatar mountains is a beautiful place, where I definitely recommend visiting. On the top of the mountains, you can actually feel surrounded by the real masterpieces of nature. It is definitely worth trying!
