As a student of agriculture and environmental activist, I have been always concerned about the effect of climate change on agriculture and its adaptation and mitigation measures. As you know I had written a report about My Blog where I write articles and about my programs to make people aware bout environmental issues. I have also been promoting Tunza EcoGeneration through my blog as Regional Ambassador of Nepal. I will soon writing a blog about opportunity on joning Tunza EcoGeneration as the application for 22nd Regional Ambassador is open. I can encourage more eco leaders to join this elite platform. I would like to request all the fellow ambassadors and ecogeneration members not to miss this golden opportunity.
You can read my two blogs about climate change and climate smart agriculture on my blog: YPARD is an international movement by Young Professionals FOR Young Professionals for Agricultural Development and I have working as Local Representative of YPARD Nepal. We through YPARD Nepal are conducting an workshop on Climate Resilient Agriculture. Climate change has a profound impact on agriculture with dwindling crop production putting global food security at risk. Nepalese agriculture is at a great risk of losing the battle against climate change due to undiversified, traditional and monsoon-dependent farming practices. A study funded by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) revealed that by the 2070s, net agricultural losses in Nepal due to climate change are estimated to be the equivalent per year of around 0.8% of current GDP, or US$140 million/year in current prices. This workshop is intended in build our knowledge base to tackle climate change and make agriculture more resilient. The workshop will cover the following topics in different sessions: 1. Climate Change and its impact on agriculture and food security2. Climate Change Adaptations and Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) 3. CSA technology for different agro-ecology 4. Scientific tools and methods for the assessment and evaluation of CSA 5. Idea presentation on Climate Resilient Agriculture I have also enlisted it in the Opportunity Section so that youths from Nepal can join the workshop.
