Rara is situated at an altitute of 2980m above sea level.Its the largest lake of Nepal and located in the heart of smallest national park of the country i.e rara national park.

The temperature dropped to -3 during our visit to the lake and it was freezing cold.But the view of the lake was worth all the suffering during the travel.

The shades of blue and green keep on chnaging in the lake during the day to be exact Rara shows 12 different shades during the day.

we are very proud that we made to this place after almost 4 days of continuous travel by bus from our university to Rara lake located in mugu district of mid west of Nepal away from internet and day to day comfort of city life.

Rara is not just another lake. It’s blue-er than the sky and larger than life. It’s guarded by thunderous mountains, and has wealth of secrets hidden inside it. It’s as clear as its conscience. Rara is a treat to every senses in the human body – the sight, the feel and the smell of it will make you proud of yourself that you made it to this place. Heaven is a myth, Rara is real.

The mishaps and inconvenience that we had to face were nothing but a “part” of the daily ritual of Kalikotes and Jumlees. Putting ourselves in their shoes for that one time wasn’t too much to ask from ourselves.

It was thrilling looking down the window and looking at the wheels roll on a narrow road with just few inches of breathing space.The road was featured in Nat Geo’s World’s Deadliest Journeys.  Contrary to how we perceive those narrow, bumpy, deadly roads, the locals could complain less- they feel more connected to each other than they had ever done.

I recommend every one of you to visit Rara once in a life time.It teaches so much of the life lesson throughout the journey.
