Plastic use is a big threat to an environment and if it is not recycled for the use then it would deteriorates environment as decomposition of plastic is hazardous for the environment. Unfortunately, it is estimated that since 1967 global plastic production has been increased to two million tonnes to 380 million tonnes, almost three times faster than the world¡¯s GDP .It is also quoted that in the beginning of 1950 till now the world has produced 9 billions of tonnes plastic waste.Of that only 9% has been recycled and another 12% destroyed. Globally, few countries have been outspoken when it comes to plastic eradication and these countries are Bangladesh, Rwanda and France. Now when it comes to Pakistan it has shown very low effort in carbon widespread use. Pakistan has been victim of several environmental threats and big cities have been victimized badly .For instance in big cities we find plastic at every corner of the streets .Not this but we are using the products of plastic excessively .Supermarkets shopping bags are of plastic, stationaery of students are also of plastic, food chains also use plastic cups and plates. Alarming thing to know is we have huge work of pottery and yet we do not utilize this segment efficiently. The use of plastic in Pakistan is not limited to these uses but we immensely use product of plastics for mobile as well like the mobile pouches, we use drinking water bottled in plastic, we have confectionery items that use plastic in wrapping. From all these uses, one can easily get the picture that use of plastic is engrossed in Pakistan. We know that excessive use of plastic is disaster for human health and wild life. Due to plastic few wild creatures in Pakistan might get extinct if we do not look upon any solution for curtailing the use of plastic. |

Hello Hassan
Plastic is now a global issue that every nation should fight against together.
The problem with plastic is they do not naturally degrade and the worst is this is a material often and mostly used in disposable products, which results in an enormous amount of waste. Before China announced that they won't be importing plastic wastes, the awareness of the plastic problem was quite low in my nation, but now as the problem should be solved domestically, more attention seems to gather. Hope every nation could come up with better management and regulation for this matter!
Thanks for the report :)

Hassan,
Though much have been said on the plastic pollution and its effects on our environment. The next big step the government and associated agencies in Pakistan have to take now is to see how they can increase the rate of recycling or significantly reduce plastic use in Pakistan. However, this issue and suggestion apply to other countries too.

Hassan, plastic has become an environmental scourge. The negative effects of plastic are well documented. Pakistan should take action to beat plastic NOW. In Kenya plastic carrier bags are banned.

Hello Hassan, plastic pollution is not just a problem of single country, apparently minute particles of plastic products are traveling all around the world these days. Many sea animals are reported to be found dead as they ingested plastic garbage floating on the sea water without knowing it is something they cannot eat.
Hope governmental and local management of plastic garbage in Pakistan get better off for higher rate of recycling!
Thanks for your report, Hassan
