Hello friends and mentors, There is a famous saying- It is better to be late than never. I am posting the following report late due to my over packed schedule on both personal and school front. Rather than presenting my experience abruptly and hurriedly I wanted to take you on a virtual vivid tour of Junior Engineering Academy that was held in Seoul in August this year. I am privileged to get the opportunity to attend the program. Junior Engineering Academy is a comprehensive education course to grow future Eco-leaders who can understand the principles of engineering and its impact on our society and environment. The program was held from in the first week of August, 2018. Its main purpose was to motivate the future Eco leaders to build a sustainable future. To build a sustainable world we need to learn engineering technology. On the first day of the Junior Engineering Academy we were segregated in groups. We were then asked to get together on the circular tables and introduce each other. During first two days events there were various lectures from eminent Eco- Leaders of the world who discussed on technologies to treat contaminated water. They also spoke on energies of the present world like Petroleum and its usages in our daily lives, by showing the schematic diagram. Similarly, future energies were discussed. The days ended after in-depth discussion sessions following the concept of urban planning discussion. We had an educational simulation of role playing on international councils. The most interesting was Eco- City project group competition where we were expected to make a sustainable city based on the information and discussions shared with us on the first two days. We as a group made marshmallow and noodle structure building. The group activity enabled us to know each member of the group and share their thoughts and valuation on critical situations such as annual budget limit, absolute amount of energy consumption, effectiveness of each energy source and the environmental impact. As the name suggests Korean folk village was truly a traditional, cultural place where we saw folk customs being carried out since ages. Korean tradition that has permeated the mode of contemporary life till date was very much noticeable in Korean Folk Village. |

Hello Anishka, it was good to see such a marvelous and splendid workouts done during ecocity project time on JEA!
I was in charge of a main mentor for JEA (whether you do remember or not) but could not give greetings to regional ambassadors of E-gen since it might have been seen as biased judgment to pick top 3 groups after ecocity project :(
But still! I do remember E-gen regional ambassadors who participated in JEA and it is grateful for me to read reports from them till now as I am in charge of this :)
Thanks for sharing your priceless experience and time in JEA and hope other regional ambassadors can make it to JEA next year!!!
