Saving our Planet, one Home at a Time!

by Rosa Domingos | 01-08-2018 22:38 recommendations 0

Pollution can be seen not only throughout the world, but also in our own homes. It comes from household chemicals, the amount of water people use and the waste people produce and throw away.

What can be done to stop this pollution? ...Surprisingly, a lot!

One can help save the environment by just doing simple things, such as:

Firstly,  recycle. This saves landfill space for other waste and allows products to be used over and over again. Recycling just one aluminum soda can saves the energy equivalent of half that can filled with petrol. Recycling can also reduce the number of trees cut down to produce paper products. It takes very little effort; it is not hard to place plastic and glass bottles, aluminum cans and paper in a bin. Anyone can do it (TeenInk, n/a).

Secondly, you need to watch the amount of water used in the home.It can be conserved by taking short showers instead of baths, repairing leaky taps, using the dishwasher or washing machine only when fully loaded, or simply turning the tap off while brushing your teeth. Even though there is plenty of water on Earth, only a very small percentage is fit for human consumption. We need to help save this water every way we can. Water is a valuable resource that can be wasted as easily as it can be conserved (TeenInk, n/a).

Thirdly, you need to reduce waste. This goes hand-in-hand with recycling. We need to recycle whenever possible, but should also try to use this waste effectively. For instance, grass clippings and food scraps can be made into compost for plants.Plants love to eat that kind of stuff! The average person produces 1.95 kilograms of waste every day, but we can reduce that amount by recycling and reusing (TeenInk, n/a).

Pollution is inevitable, and landfill areas are filling up. Our water supply is being contaminated, and cars keep creating more air pollution. But if we do our part in our own homes, we can help keep the planet from becoming more polluted.

    Hi Joon!

Absolutely! Shifting from disposing and without cause is just not the way forward anymore, but recycling ones' waste takes a huge toll off waste that is current in out surroundings.

    And you are welcome!

Hello Rosa, there are tons of ways that are easy for us to save our planet, but being responsible for every aspect of our lives is quite hard task.
As we live in 21st century, almost everything we buy, meet, use and throw away is manufactured in factories. Mentioned in your report, recycling or upcycling them, and reducing the total amount of waste will decrease the amount of resources used to manufacture goods for us.
It is simplest way to implement our willingness into real-life world saving activities.
    Thanks for reminding us, Rosa.

    Hi Gyeongrin!

It is true, many people just wait for waste to pile up or worse, wait for someone else to do it, like the municipality. But society's perceptions is changing, we just need to continue making them aware of the fact that he earth is for everyone and everyone needs to take care of it.

    Many thanks!

    Hello Rosa
Everything should start from the basic factor, which is our 'home' in this society. The reason that recovering of environment costs a lot is because every little, trivial wastes and damage from individuals are piled up to become something that isn't quite manageable. By following these simple instructions, many things could be improved!

Always thanks for the nice reports :)
