Healthcare activities lead to production of medical waste that may lead to adverse health effects. Most of this waste is not more dangerous than regular household waste. However, some types of health-care waste represent a higher risk to health.
Sharps waste, although produced in small quantities, is highly infectious. Poorly managed, they expose health-care workers, waste handlers and the community to infections. Healthcare facilities in UAE follow proper waste management ethics and the hazardous waste is incinerated in various Municipal centres with professionalism. To control and optimize the procedure of wastes within the Health Care Facility, starting from the place where they are created until the final destination all the details are well documented and monitored. Research and various sources used for the report that include credible information available at: https://www.haad.ae

Simran, thanks for bringing up this matter through your report. I take this opportunity to inform the members of some more details about handling of medical Waste in UAE.
In the UAE, strict laws govern the collection and disposal of medical waste from Hospitals, clinics and pharmacies. Set procedures ensure that there is no risk of contamination at any stage and the waste does not pose a health hazard. Hospitals and clinics are required to segregate medical waste in special yellow bins which are kept in the basement at a cool temperature.
Special Air-conditioned vans (yellow coloured and with a special logo to imply a sense of danger from the medical waste) driving at slow speed, carry the waste to the incineration centre where it is burnt according to specifications. The facility in Dubai for instance has the current capacity to treat 20 tonnes of waste per day and is said to be the second of its kind in the world as far as safety is concerned.

Before dumping medical waste it is necessary to neutralize it using chemical otherwise having potential to affect human health. India having in this regard Medical Waste Act to control the pollution created by medical waste. But there is a loop holes in its implementation.
