The 21st Century, vehicles have become a basic necessity of almost every family. Public transport often becomes uneconomical for families. Now the question comes to choosing the right vehicle, i.e., the most eco friendly one. In this article I will be discussing on how to choose the right vehicle.
The best way to go about a vehicle purchase is to decide the ?most? vehicle you actually need, whether its a pickup or a compact car, and then look for the most efficient version of that vehicle.
Then, consider the following: -
Fuel Efficiency: When motor vehicles burn fossil fuels they produce lots of greenhouse gases, about a quarter of the total carbon dioxide emissions, heavily polluting the air we breathe with toxins. Consuming least fuel for each mile is key to going green, so make high mileage a priority.
-
Fuel Types: Though there are several fuel choices to choose from, there's still no perfectly green choice. New ?clean? diesel engines against high-efficiency petrol counterparts are hard to choose from, as each has its pros and cons. Diesels burn less fuel and run up to 40 percent farther on a single gallon. Though diesel produces more pollutants, diesel?s greenhouse emissions per mile are typically lower than petrol cars. Despite recent improvements, however, diesels still produce more soot- and smog-forming nitrogen oxide emissions, which may play their own role in warming the planet and also have consequences for human health. The new biodiesel has also entered the trend. There has been much talk about the potential of biodiesel, the renewable fuel made from plant oils, animal fats, or even used cooking oil, that can be used to fuel diesel engines. Problems arise when we consider the actual source of these biofuels. Producing the raw materials for synthesizing biodiesel can cause many problems, including deforestation, and could have a negative impact in the fight against climate change.
-
Hybrids: Most hybrids pair a gasoline engine with an electric motor and battery capable of powering the car alone during times of low demand. When the engine runs, it recharges the battery—so the vehicle is never needs to actually be charged. These efficient systems can cut fuel consumption by 30 to 50 percent over the gasoline-fueled versions of the same auto models. They can also reduce smog pollution drastically—as much as 90 percent over even the cleanest fuel-only vehicles. Though there are many efficient hybrids, certain manufacturers fail to reach the mark, so always make sure your choice is green.

This was very insightful. I am a big fan of Tesla's work, even though most of it hasn't been implemented yet.

I will definitely refer back to this in 2 years when I finally am allowed to get my liscence, haha. I like how Tesla is so popular not only because of its design but because it's implemented with green technology so that it can benefit us in everyday life. Thanks for sharing.
