World s First Fully Functional 3D printed office in Dubai

by Simran Vedvyas | 02-08-2016 02:06 recommendations 0

Recently, OFFICE OF THE FUTURE as it is called became the first 3D-printed office in the world, after less than a month of launching Dubai 3D printing strategy.  Presenting to the world on implementing future technology in our lives, and representing a new milestone for the UAE as a global leader in strategic achievements.  A showcase of modern model of construction, this unique building will house the temporary office of the Dubai Future Foundation.

The reality today does not allow the 3D printing technology to be fully eco-friendly. Different research reveals this technology uses large amounts of energy. Another setback is the heavy reliance on plastic materials for the printing process.

However, In comparison to all the other manufacturing process, especially mass production, 3D printing is far less of an impact on our environment.

The whole idea behind 3D printing is to produce affordable products in an efficient and effective manner so they are durable, lighter which is especially advantageous when shipping and have close to zero waste. The focus is on high quality, efficiency and low volume manufacturing. Computer generated designs will help reduce costs and improve energy and resource usage, by aiding in the design and early production stages of a new product.

3D printing will continue developing and improving in every aspect, especially in terms of being eco-friendly.  As it is in its early developmental phase there is yet great deal of research and analysis still pending to its improvement at large.

Simran, thanks for sharing us about both pros and cons regarding 3d printing. Though it may not seem eco-friendly at the first place, after some technological advancement I assert it can create buildings and items with much less energy and resource. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing! Also I like the softly protruded lines and the futuristic facade. I read that in China they build a building with a 3D printer. I guess the future has already started to unfold its way! Thanks for writing!

3D printing is gradually becoming a major source for everyday products and even houses in your example. Even at my school, there are various printing machines and courses to teach the younger generation about it. Can't wait to see how the future will push 3D printing even further. Thanks for sharing.

Simran Vedvyas, I had already reported on this story back in June when the building was first printed. The 2,500 square feet building which costed $140,000 is very eco-friendly
