Dubai Municipality has embarked on a plan to use drones to catch people littering. The municipality?s waste management department has already bought one drone as part of its trial phase.
Many Dubai government entities have started using drones in various operations. The drones will also be used to monitor popular worker camp premises and surroundings in the emirate to ensure that they are not littered. However, the drones will not be restricted to monitoring dumpsites and development projects but are also set to inspect Dubai's beaches and deserts against offenders guilty of leaving their rubbish behind.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has also confirmed that it will deploy new high-end drones. The drones will be used for topographic surveys, thermal inspection and photovoltaic panel maintenance. The use of drones will reduce risks and costs enabling quick-response times and ensure accuracy, DEWA said. |

Neha, surprising to hear drones are developed enough to catch people littering. Though it may be effective at stopping people throwing trash away, the cost should be a lot. It requires monitoring cost and the drone itself must be expensive. Anyways, using drones for environment is very interesting to hear! Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

These days drones are of great use to tackle environmental issues around the world. I heard in Brazil, too, they use drones to spot illegal logging and hunting. I think it's safe to say, drones can do more good than harm the nature :D

Recently we have been hearing & reading in National newspapers about misuse of drones in disturbing the planes. Drones should actually be used for such environment protection or safety purposes. Thanks for sharing.
