Let's be Environmentally conscious |
---|
Conscience, by definition, is an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one?s behavior. To be environmentally conscious, or to be eco-friendly, and raising awareness is focus of majority of environmental activists like TUNZA Eco-generation family. I have seen many eco-conscious people around me who truly and passionately protect our environment. For instance, green eco-cycle club members described picking a trash as picking up the abandoned conscious. Here in America, ever since Rachel Carson and the Awakening of Environmental Consciousness movement, our nation has been paying such attention on environmental issues. For instance, 71% of our consumers think green when purchasing (Environmentalleader.com) 80% of Americans worry about environments and 83% believe that we can achieve environmental protection. (ecoamerica.org) Also consider Emma Watson, a famous British actress well known to us with the movie series Harry Potter, who gave a speech when she wore an environmental-friendly dress made out of recycled plastic bottles. The dress was a collaboration work with Calvin Klein and Eco Age along with Emma. She claimed that she is proud to say that it is truly sustainable. She explained that to her doing conscious things is her LUXURY. So when I attended the UN DPI/NGO Conference, I decided to pledge to protect environment under an organization called An Era of Conscience. I was interviewed by this organization?s member. I described what I do as an environmental activist, such as introducing TUNZA family and my nature book. They later posted my pledge and interviews on their website. How often do we truly think about the impact we make on our environment? How many people out there are still not aware of dangers our environment is in? What can we do to protect our surroundings as awakened global citizens? I believe it all starts from having this consciousness, doing a right thing to protect this valuable gift. We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors. we borrow it from our children. –Native American -

Thanks for telling us about your activities. I expect to see more :D Sometimes the way people 'consciously' waste natural resources makes me a bit anxious. Like, in the summer time so many stores in the street put on the air conditioner with their windows and door wide open. It would be highly unlikely to do so if more people feel uncomfortable by these idiotic customs. Thanks for sharing!

Yuna, I also agree that we need to be eco-conscious everyday. In daily life, I also waste energy or resources unconsciously. While reading your article, I realized that there needs change in my attitude and behavior. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

Great work. The power of partnerships is inevitable.

@Eco Generation,
I think An Era of Conscience is more like a general human righteousness/consciousness organization and it doesn't specifically go along with environmental protections...
however during the interview I had with them (which they recorded as a video and posted on their website) I decided to primarily focus on environmental activism/protections/any ideas related to this that many people should be aware of :D

@Arushi,
I totally agree, when I read the phrase I was like OH I DEFINITELY NEED TO SHARE THIS :))
and yeah it's even main topic of one section in history book specifically going about our environmental protections/work after industrial era..
I was worried a little because the organization's focus was more like a general consciousness (our daily actions) and when I first mentioned environmental consciousness they looked confused (maybe because they didn't speak English and our conversations weren't thorough?)

Adding on to the brilliant questions Arushi wrote, you can also consider your actions through a SWOT analysis. It stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. Through this, you will know what to keep on implementing (for a strength and opportunity) and what to do as to make it even better (other two aspects). Here's an example of Apple: http://creately.com/diagram/example/gsv8l5hs3/SWOT+Analysis+of+Apple
Thank you for the report!

I like the phrase 'picking a trash is picking up the abandoned conscious'. It is really good that US is paying lot of attention on Green Living. Congrats for your interview , for your pledge. Thanks for the report emphasisng on the need to act eco-friendly by our conscience.
We all must think of environment before taking any action. For that matter, as I always say, that before taking any action , ask yourself 3 Questions:
Q1 Is it necessary?
Q2 What will be it's impact on environment ?
Q3 Is there an eco-friendlier alternative?
