On the 1
ST of June, 2015 the capital city of Ghana (Accra) had experience a flood which lasted for 2 to 3 days has also caused a fire outbreak which had killed more than a 100 people and a very few people who survived are seriously injured and as at now, are being treated at the hospital.
According to residents, the flood covered the whole of ACCRA and because of the level of the running water and the state of the storm, a dozens of people sought shelter under the GOIL fuel filling station of which the level of the rainwater kept on rising and as a result the station got flooded and exploded, burning many people in a blaze that fire-fighters worked overnight to put out.
The flood did not only caused an explosion but submerged some buildings and vehicles. Smaller vehicles were swept by the rain water away into large gutters such that people in such cars were not able to escape and as a result got drowned.
Many lives have been lost and properties as well. This resulted to the demolishing of houses and structures to pave way for the running water. The government donated some money to support the victims and also declared state mourning to the lost lives.
Apart from that, as part of volunteers in the country we are raising funds to support the victims. A lot of disasters has hit the country, including fire outbreaks too.
