As part of the "Forest of the Future Project", there is an activity that is developed with children and youth from public schools and shelter institutes.

The activity is called "The Bald-Hairy" and it aims to show up children and youth the process of a plant development. Through a  didactic way, it is explained which factors are necessary for a plant to grow up healthfully. Children and youth grasp that a plant requires sunlight, water and nutrients to grow and survive.

Pantyhose, seed and wood flour were given to children and youth. Nevertheless, they start to make the "bald-hairly" and also customize it with the creation of a nose, a mounth and eyes. After they finish to make the doll, we said to them that their new homework is to take care about their "bald-hairly".

According to observation, it is possible to conclude that this activity seems very interesting for the participants because they get very exciting and they show up that they could understand the main message of the activity (what does a plant need to grow up properly?).

I strongly reccommend that other local communities around the world can develop this activity among children and youth.
