It was recent when we attended the inauguration ceremony of the social enterprise organizationDo Good Academy in collaboration with The Star Leaderonomics .on the basics of empowering leaders of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) who are skilled. Based on the decisions made by the like-minded professional s who attended the awesome occasion, it came to a conclusion of establishing a great platform for learning and enrichment of soft skills and empowerment.
It was a notably foreseen that we wanted to create a pool of leader of the 21st century who are backed by An uplifting spirit of momentum, who can really instigate change in their emerging environments. As we are all aware that Leadership is not a natural talent therefore, one needs to sharpen our skills and experience in paving way to becoming great leaders. It was agreed to contribute on the development of the capacity and capability (NGO leaders) in their leadership to mobilize the community to help people in need, It was upon this view that the panel of professionals came out with a module on how to teach and equip young leader with the required recipe to becoming great. So, a couple of courses were selected to be taught on routine basis. Some of the courses were Project management, social enterprise etc.
The year 2014 started with a commenced profoundly with a workshop on project management upon recognizing the need for leaders and the NGO?s to have some knowledge of project management. Irrespective of what kind of organization that one might find him/herself, there is the need to have some knowledge on how to manage and coordinate projects, more so particularly in a non-profit organization. As an organization with the vision of developing leaders and NGOs to help make their organizations operate more effectively and sustainably, a lot more organization leaders and member were present.Most of the NGO's are those contributing on environmental advocacy.The trainer by the name,Rupa conducted a fantastic training session which goes to show what a quality trainer she is. She not only took time to answer our questions and clarified each concept comprehensively so that we would all have a clear idea of both the big picture and the specifics on what goes into running a project successfully. We were taught with us on how to plan a small-to-mid scale projects just by using some simple tools that will aid in project planning and budgeting. Free Relation was among the goodwill organizations sponsoring with participants at the workshop.
The workshop also highlighted some keys points such as
- Know who is involved in the project/Understand your target audience
- Learn how to plan a small-to-mid scale projects using tools that will aid in project planning and budgeting
- Gain better time planning and goal setting skills to determine and arrange project activities and workloads
- Learn useful strategies to execute a project more effectively
- Learn how to manage and sustain projects through project monitoring and management techniques

Thanks for a nice report. It is true that leaders are not born , but are created or groomed and developed. Such trainings and workshops are a good way to develop leadership skills.
