To Reach Humanity

by | 11-01-2014 22:14 recommendations 0

The people from northern part of Bangladesh suffer mostly for cold weather. Many of them lives under poverty line. Every year winter season become harsh reality for them. These people cannot fight cold without aid. But it is also hard to reach some rural part of Bangladesh. Usually non government organizations distribute winter cloths for distressed people.

Like every year my organization South Asian Youth Society (SAYS) organized an event titled "Sharing Warmth" . We decided to distribute warm cloths in three particular area Netrakona, Kurigram and Mymensingh. Through endless efforts of some volunteers SAYS in association with Dhaka Access Alumni Club and Youth Development Research and Leadership Assembly of Bangladesh collected standard amount of winter cloths.

We started our journey to Netrokona 250 kilometer north from capital Dhaka on 9th January. I think many of you already know about the current political situation of Bangladesh. It was too risky to travel this long way. But volunteers risk to reach humanity. It was a long 8 hour bus journey. It took time because of foggy climate out there. In the middle of the journey we stopped to drop a team in Mymensingh with relief materials which includes blankets, sweaters, socks, caps and other clothing.

We were welcomed by local people there, they treated us as their guest. We started distribution from 10am in the morning. We distributed among children, female tribe,  and other village people. Everyone of us was feeling so great to stand beside the distressed people that at least we can give them some warmth this winter. We started for Dhaka yesterday afternoon and reached safe at midnight.
