Let's Bus Together 2013 – Campaign in Saigon

by | 30-12-2013 01:02 recommendations 0

You know that: "80% of bus passenger in Vietnam is young students".

Students enjoy bus just because it is the cheapest transportation, yet day by day "catching bus" becomes a new trend of modern young people. Students again want to spread the enjoyment of "Bus-ing" to people in society.

"Let's Bus Together" is an annual campaign in Saigon, Vietnam. It was started by participants of "Be Change Agents" program from 2011 and will continue until 2015 with the purpose of encouraging people, especially students, travelling by bus and enjoy it as a new life style.

From 1000 people involved in 2011, the campaign was very successful to spread the "Bus spirit" to 3000 people in 2012 and over 5000 people in 2013.

Activities in "Let's Bus Together" change year by year. In this 2013, "Let's Bus Together" focused on "Green Movement Fair" in the biggest park of Saigon with funny games, recycled products for sales, music performances... This fair was also a great opportunity for environmental organizations in Saigon networking, with their exhibitions. The other "hotspot" is "Green Tour" with the distinguish point that the tourists will travel to explore beautiful Saigon, just by buses.

Besides, in "Let's Bus Together" campaign, volunteers collected used bus tickets and recycled, turn them into beautiful hand-made souvenirs for "Green" passengers who choose bus as their favorite transportation. 50,000 tickets have been collected successfully. When you come to "Green Movement Fair" of "Let's Bus Together" campaign, you can exchange used bus ticket to get points (1 tickets = 20 points) and you can use point to get those beautiful hand-made.

To close the colorful results of "Let's Bus Together" campaign in 2013, organization committee held a discussion panel with the topic: "The youth – Ideas and Suggestion for Bus Management" with the participation of government and the youth in very honest and effective conversation.

"Let's Bus Together" is a great ideas and a special story about the effort of young people in Vietnam. They inspired many students and activist in Vietnam. They make us believe in the change and the possibility to change.

Thank you for everything you do, your effort and your inspiration. Proud of you!

Great effort. It is an undisputed fact that public transport is easy , cost effective and greener way of commuting. We can certainly reduce our city's carbon footprint if more & more commuters use public transport.

Wow, what a great initiative! One of my professor went there to participate in a conference and he told me the air pollution in Vietnam was so serious. So collective cooperation must be done for the nature and people of Vietnam :)
