My Research about political economy of forest encroachment. |

As I'm conducting a research on political economy of forest encroachment in sindhuli district, I've made so many conclusion from this research. In this research, I've statistically proved that politics becomes worse in economically weak areas as comparison to economically boosted areas. Although it is a universally seen fact, I've proved it with data available.
Therefore, if we think of initiating good political culture in the third world, we should start to boost our economic aspects, this is only the clue. Only crime and ghosts stay in the mind with hungry stomach where we can rarely find peace. The further improved conclusions of my research is presented below in bullets. 1. Sindhuli had experienced 1125.0 ha of land encroachment till 2011 whose minimum monetary value was NRs 181,103,402.73. However, encroachment and its monetary value became 7,272.75 ha and NRs 10,637,550,955.82 respectively till 2013. The main cause to fuel up this encroachment was found to be the issues of rehabilitating freed Kamayas, land mafias and landless squatters whose activities are protected by political parties to fulfill their political interest. .
2. Till 2011, tree species of value NRs 88,157,861.15 was found to be vanished and in 2013 it was rocketed to NRs 405,822,681.42. There was about 4.60 times increase in the value of trees vanished due to encroachment. 3. Shorea robasta was severely affected due to encroachment as its lost value was NRs. 83,555,651.5 in 2011 and rocketed to NRs. 361,277,292.8 in 2013. The loss is increased by about 4.32 times. Shorea robusta was severely affected by this encroachment as it is very high value species abundantly found in this region. 4. Till 2011, encroachment in the range posts touching southern belt (Southern Aspect) was calculated as 737.54ha with monetary value NRs. 154,415,555.82 and in the remaining aspects 387.5 ha with value of NRs.114, 845,708.06 was found to be encroached. The reason was purely political due to the conflict between Terian and Hilly people in terai. Due to the conflict hilly people were displaced to the upper parts of the country. 5. Similarly, till 2013 encroachment in the range posts touching southern belt (Southern Aspect) was calculated as 3,110.9 ha with monetary value Rs. 9,994,195,215.1 and in the remaining aspects 4,161.85 ha with value of Rs. 1,049,178,422.14 was found to be encroached. The encroachment was increased in remaining aspects as compared to southern aspect as hilly people started to search a secure residence after terai conflict. 6. The community Forest Users Groups were on the process of being socially more inclusive. Although there is no direct intervention of political parties over this institution but the leaders of CFUGs were found to be directly involved in political parties and their activities. 7. High encroachment was seen in the areas where mostly poorer live which mean politics is worse in the economically weak areas. |
