The truth that lies beneath Eco Lables

by | 08-02-2013 21:23 recommendations 0

Can we believe the eco-labels of the product? : Nowadays, many companies advertise that their products are eco-friendly. However the wide variety of eco labels the firms use are confusing the consumers. According to one research, more than 400 eco-labels are used throughout the world right now.

When consumers go into stores in the United States, they confronted by many products that have labeling that claim that they are green and eco-friendly products. However in many studies and research conducted by consumer advocacy group have found that many of the claims are no more than a misleading advertising. These days people are more aware of their impact on the environment, they are making conscious effort to purchase eco-friendly products. Because of this trend, product manufacturers are quickly adapting their product packaging and marketing message to take advantage of the green movement. Because of this, there are many products on store shelves that claim to be green and eco-friendly but in reality, are not.

In order to protect consumers there must be regulations to standardize and simplify eco labels so that the consumers can clearly know whether the products they are using are really eco-friendly or not. For example, EPA from the US government is working with non-governmental standards developers to develop a standard for eco friendly goods.

And the consumers should be also willing to research about eco-labels in order to make efficient purchases by using the help of following procedure but not limited to using internet sites such as (www.ecolabelindex.com) or downloading Eco-Label apps from the Consumer Report.

Thanks for informing us. I think there needs to be an organisation that deals in this and if products pass the 'green test' they are allowed to have a sticker on their package or print it part of the package so in this way, less paper is wasted and companies are forced to comply with the green laws
