November Campaign [ Let's Make Our Communities Green and Clean: 'Youth Engagement in Environmetal Management' |

    Effective waste management has become a pressing issue in many countries especially the urban centers. Government, non-governmental organizations, institutions and individuals are putting much effort to effectively manage waste generated in our communities. According to World Economic Forum report 2021, Ghana generates 84,000 tonnes of plastics of which 9% are collected and recycle, the rest found in our water bodies, gutters and open spaces. These cause leads to natural disaster like flooding, and also affect ecosystems and human life as well. As 31st Tunza Eco-generation Ambassador to Ghana, Founder of Sustainable Green Future Club, I am coordinating a project, "Let's make our Communities Green and Clean by 2025". This project would benefit about 20+ communities. The project is been taken place at Old Tafo Municipality, in collaboration with local Assembly and Committee Members, Traditional Chiefs. Internationally, Eco generation, is sponsoring and supporting, giving direction to make this project come to success. To complete the project effectively, community engagement is a key step we have to take. To engage each and everyone, we started public education on 28th November, 2023 at Alpha Radio 104.9 located in our locality to explain the objectives and the project plan to the general members. We started on the topic Youth Engagement in Environmetal Management, to empower young people in our community to come onboard to make it success. We also get their knowledge on how we can execute this project to make our community green and clean. Conclusion With the first pitch of the project, the community members has accepted to support us proceed the project for the development of our environment. We will embark on this journey next week to get each and everyone involve before taking the next step of the project. Thank you Eco-generation for your support |
