I am very glad I got to join Youth at Heart event at Ethiopia (Oct 22, 2020), also Thank You for The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ethiopia for inviting me to attend the Youth at Heart- Ethiopia Event. At Hyatt Regency Hotel. I had an amazing time and met new inspiring people.
The event is being curated by the Embassy, where we get to discus and learn about the challenges of youth education and economic empowerment in Ethiopia, learn from best practices. also for Youth to Youth (Y2Y) https://y2youth.org/ which creates opportunity for youth in Ethiopia. On the event I heard something from his excellency the minister of education of Ethiopia. in my country digital access is kind of limited in rural area so we used to cut trees to make enough book for the children's and youth in my country, i know education is a basic thing since i run as 2020 world literacy foundation ambassador of Ethiopia i have a wide understanding of the how being illiterate is a big challenge at this time specially at developing country. But i always wondered if there was any way for my country to become more eco-friendly concerning the education system. on this event i got the chance to ask questions that concerns me as an ambassador of TUNZA ECO-GENERATION and i was informed that the Ethiopian government is working on digital books and giving access and introduction to the country education system to technology more than it as before. I didn't gave it a thought at that time but when i got time to think about the words it got me think how many trees won't be used for the production of books and how this act will make Ethiopia eco friendly. I am happy that my country actions are friendly to the eco-system and that Ethiopia have bright green future!!! |

Hello Rafa!
It's your SJ mentor.
Warm greetings from Korea!
Thank you for introducing your fabulous experience with us.
It is great to realize you are being inspired through the event.
Replacing conventional paper book to digital book can save trees used for making books.
But more energy could use to manufacture, use electronic devices such as laptop, tablet pc.
Less amount of energy is required to look at digital book in the mass than using paper book.
So I think we should change our convention at some future day.
Hope things are fine with you.
Green cheers!
Best regards,
SJ mentor.

Hello Bethlehem,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience.
I'm glad to hear that you had an amazing time during the Youth at Heart- Ethiopia Event.
I understand that the country has tried hard for the literacy and education,
but it would be better if the trees were protected too.
I hope that internet access gets better throughout the entire country soon, so that everyone can enjoy digital sources for education.
It would be nice if you tell us what was your country's solution to be more eco-friendly.
Keep writing.
Regards,
WooJoo
