The planet that we live on is the most beautiful gift that has been given to us. Mother Earth as we call it has bestowed us with everything that we need without asking for anything in return. That is how kind our Mother Earth is. However, it is our duty to ensure that it is in the safe hands. It is our duty to show our gratefulness as long as we live. We are all aware of the challenges faced by our planet. Global warming, increase in population, melting of ice caps, urbanization, consumption of plastics, rise in sea levels, detriment to aquatic animals¡¯ health; these are just some of the examples of the many present issues. These are consequently putting in danger not only the human race but also the animals, trees, and basically, all living cells. The food that we eat, the water that we consume, the air that we breathe; all of this will slowly put our health at risk. It goes without saying that we need to do something. I aim to encourage everybody, especially the children and the youth to be conscious of the environmental issues and to engage themselves into organizing activities to simultaneously promote awareness and perform our duty not only as humans of this planet. As mentioned earlier, serving the planet start with the little things. It involves little efforts such as switching off the lights after use, moderating and monitoring the use of water while doing the dishes, while showering or while brushing our teeth. Through these actions, we are transforming ourselves to become better individuals; we are transforming our home into a better home and gradually make our world a better and healthier place. These are only some of the many examples that exist. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. We started the event by cleaning up the yard. It was deserted with dry leaves all over the place and mosquitoes and all sorts of insects everywhere. We all wore our gloves, got our brooms, huge dustbins and some other equipments¡¯ ready. Along with us, a small kid also joined to show her support towards serving the Moher earth. We also realized that it is through the small gestures that we set examples for the younger ones to follow. When we instill the right values at a very young age, we are preparing the kids for a better future. There were elders who were also present to guide us and keep us on the right track. When we started cleaning the yard, it did not have such a pleasant view and was definitely not the most attractive. Our aim was to join hands to help to give the yard the look that it deserves. The elders and the youth teamed up to work harmoniously. The tons of leaves attracted so many insects, especially mosquitoes and mosquitoes lead to diseases. A school compound with mosquitoes is not very safe for the students. We collected all the leaves in huge dustbins. When we had completed, the yard was looking so much better. We then proceeded to trees planting. We gave the small kid the opportunity to launch this activity by planting a small tree herself. The happiness and glow on her face was a sight that we all relished. All those present contributed in this activity. By the end of the day, all of our white t-shirts, jeans and shoes were muddy but we were all so happy. As mentioned earlier, the beautification of this yard is a project that will not stop here. There is still so much progress that we are determined to make. Our planet needs us. The moment to act is now. If we do not act now, the harm that is going to be done to Mother Earth will be beyond repair. Nature and man are co-existent. It is the little things that we do, the little steps that we take that is going to make all the difference. We should by all means return the favor to Mother Earth for everything that it does for us, every second, every day and every moment. We should at all cost protect it from any harm and danger do our level best to keep on beautifying it. Just like us, Mother Earth needs to stay healthy and breathe to stay alive. |

Hello Sainath,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Thank you for sharing such a sweet report with a self-drawn drawing.
It makes me feel warm by reading your yard cleaning activity.
I hope the little tree grows well, and the yard turns out into a beautiful little garden.
Little actions, such as turning off the unused lights, replacing plastic into biodegradable materials, can bring a big change to the world, if we act together.
The Earth needs us, and so do we need the Earth.
So let's keep fighting as eco-warriers.
Green cheers!
Regards,
WooJoo
