Dear all, Hope you are doing well. Studying at Webster University, I have heard of this term which is global citizenship. You may ask why do we need to be global citizens and why did the head of the university choose global citizenship? I will be doing my best to cover those aspects. If I was asked what the essence of life is, I would answer to do and to be good. Living in a rapidly changing environment, various issues bother us, yet we think of personal problems by asking questions ourselves "What if happens to me if I act in that way?", don't we? I used to be such a person who never thought out of the box. However, after learning English, I started thinking on an international scale by watching the news and occurring events around the globe. Yes, I may not help financially to those people who are living in poor conditions but just raising awareness of those people who live in a reverse way may definitely help. I always look for internationally minded people whom I am surrounded by and who taught me to be so! Global citizens don't only think of today but rather the future. I am not a vegan but cherish those people who take care of animals not to eat for temporary pleasure. When I ask them, vegans say that they don't want their children to live in devastating time, what kind of world will they leave after they die?! Important to underline the world, not their home country! I believe that such a mindset helps us, human beings, that we will have generation after us and we are the only ones who can change. These views surely come from communication, curiosity, and the ability to analyze and think critically. Global citizens see ourselves as part of an emerging world community and are committed to helping build this community¡¯s values and practices. However, we still have narrow-minded people who are ready to say "NO". Whenever there are any projects related to environmental issues, they are likely to reply to eco speeches or talks don't help and many more. It is a thread for the community we are living in and will be living in. Hence being tolerant of what people do and having decent information either education is vital for all citizens of the world! Thank you! |

Hello Vazira,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Warm greetings from South Korea.
I hope you are doing well at your university.
I definitely agree that all of people cannot be vegan to lower meat consumption,
but just by increasing our awareness and bit of changing our perspectives can be helpful to the society and to the environment.
At least, 'something' would be better than nothing.
We, as global citizens, should be responsible to change our present to change the future.
I'm glad to be able to hear your own thoughts!
Keep writing.
Best wishes,
WooJoo
