Hello guys, it's me again, it's greate to see you. Hope you enjoy my fourth report.
My monthly report's topic which is given by my mentor - Woojoo is about the environmental movies and what they want to show us. It is such an incredible topic and I decide to introduce to you the movie Chasing Ice. Chasing Ice is a 2012 documentary film about the efforts of nature photographer James Balog and his Extreme Ice Survey (EIS) to publicize the effects of climate change, directed by Jeff Orlowski. It was released in the United States on November 16, 2012. The documentary includes scenes from a glacier calving event that took place at Jakobshavn Glacier in Greenland, lasting 75 minutes, the longest such event ever captured on film. I belive the special and unique part in this movie is the raw material which was used to make this film, it is not the same with other movies, Chasing Ice is based on the real event and there pictures, movies were snapped in real situation. Therefore, it brings to the audiences the true message and brings to them the comprehensive view about climate change. According to James Balog, he hoped his film could be used as a tool to shift perceptions and increase awareness about the reality of what is happening and he shared that he and his teammate was working hard to showcase through undeniable, irrefutable, incontrovertible imagery of what has happened over the period of time. At that time, people had only known about climate change but they no further understand the negative it brings to the Earth and living creature. Thus, they did not have any movements to improve that situation. At a result, James and his team directed this movie in order to show people around the world about the terrible situation of the Earth- climate change and especially is melted ice. After watching this movie, I strongly believe, each audience can understand and imagine how worst climate change is and how it affected to people life and they can handle out it. Chasing Ice is a wonderful movies with breathtaking views and important messange about climate change. I hghly reccomend you guys to watch it so as to understand clearly about glacier melt and their negative impact. |

Hello Nhu!
It's your SJ mentor.
Warm greetings from Korea!
Thank you for sharing your thematic report with us.
I didn't watch this movie but I can imagine messages from the movie by reading your article.
Capturing the moment of glacial erosion, movement of glaciers can urge the people indifference to climate change.
As people cannot realize the magnitude of the ongoing situation, we must share the scenes from this film.
Keep up your hard work and I hope you to be safe!
Sincerely,
SJ mentor.

Hello Nhu,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Thank you for sharing your movie recommendation!
I feel glad that the topic was interesting to you.
People are unaware of glaciers melting because they've never saw it in person, or maybe it is happening at a place far from where they live.
But it is part of the consequence of our actions,
so that's why I agree with you and the movie's message about shifting perceptions and increasing awareness about the reality.
Thank you once again.
Best wishes,
WooJoo
