Magic Mushrooms or Shrooms are either wild or cultivated mushrooms containing psilocybin or psilocin, a naturally occurring psychoactive and hallucinogenic compound. The scientific name, Psilocybe cubenis translates to bald head due to its bald appearance. It is grown naturally in various habitats ranging from grasses and gardens to rotting woods and animal faeces. There are more than 200 species of magic mushrooms found in the world. Major biological genera which contains Psilocybin are Copelandia, Gymnopilus, Inocybe, Pholiotina, Pluteus and Psilocybe. Archaeological evidence from sahara desert suggests that humans have been tripping on Magic Mushrooms for more than 7000 years. Its extensive use has been reported in the Mayan and Aztec cultures of Mesoamerica, namely in Mexico and Guatemala.
Researches have claimed that one trip of mushroom may have lasting positive and psychological effect on the user’s personality. It is also widely used in overcoming nicotine addiction. It is used for treating anxiety, OCD, headaches and post-traumatic stress disorders. A typical trip leads person to a sort of transitory state between sleep and wakefulness, also described as a waking dream state. It is illegal in many places but commercially sold and grown in few countries. It is used in making various types of medicines. In USA and Europe, Magic mushroom are considered one of the most popular recreational psychedelics. It can be eaten fresh or dry and can brewed as a tea as well. I've experienced many types of mushrooms including toxic ones, but never saw this type of mushroom, magic mushroom. Thank you for explaining about its features and beneficial aspects. Nature is indeed wonderful, isn't it?
