[Free Report] Africa; What Is The way Forward? |

A bold question to be asked to each and every leader in Africa. What is the way forward for Africa in terms of Climate Change and its related issues. The leaders of African countries have done little to help curb problems of climate change. I won't go far but stop at my own gate; Ghana. Little has been done by the government to help fight against climate change. A ban was placed on small scale mining, the next moment it is lifted and some people take advantage of the lift to indulge in illegal mining in all forms to destroy our forest, rivers, and natural resources. It was during the early days of this year 2020 when the government decided to bring a law which would prevent the import of cars which are over fifteen years old. 15 years! Where in an environmental friendly country would they allow import of cars which are even ten years old? My big problem here is the other continents which even allow the export of old and dilapidated vehicles to be brought to Africa. Africans would gladly buy these cars because we do not have much of an option but the effects of this usage of old vehicles, would be felt around the entire world through climate change. A typical example I can give is the railway project that is currently running in my country Ghana. It was championed by China and I am informed that China funded some of the capital as well. Millions of dollars have been invested to build railways for diesel locomotives (diesel consuming trains). I believe electric trains are way better than diesel locomotives so why are they pushing for them than the electric trains which are more effective and very environmental friendly? We know the right thing but we choose not to do it. It is time for Africa to rise and start making decisions on our own and for our own good and that of the world. I stand for Africa, I stand for change. Green Cheers from Ghana! |

Hello Justice Obiri, this is mentor Taehyun!
Thank you for the report about your country. It is so sad that we have to compromise with reality even there is a better eco-friendly solution for the problem. The electronic train is better for the most part compared with the diesel train. (In the part of energy efficiency, eco-friendly degree, etc.) But, critical problem with electronic train is that infrastructure cost for the electronic train is much more expansive than the diesel one...! So, we have to develop appropriate and eco-friendly technology!
Thank you for the report!
Green cheers!

Hello Justice Obiri, this is a mentor Sang Su Lee.
I always believed that Africa should be developed like Westerners have done and the environmental pollution would be inevitable then. However, people like you will make the development in much eco-friendly way. There exists so much technology that can reduce pollution. I hope the African development would cope with the state-of-the-art technology.
Thank you for your report.
