Zero Polythene Tilottama

by Sandhya Adhikari | 03-03-2020 12:21 recommendations 0

Zero Polythene Tilottama is one of the leading campaign that is running across my region. Realizing the consequences of the negative impacts of the plastics on the environment this campaign is running so effectively for the change and for making tilottama, one of the largest municipality near to my residence area plastics free municipality. With the theme, ¡°Lets rise every village and city to make Tilottama plastic free municipality¡±, every villagers, organization, local group, school children are working collectively for making their own city plastic free city. It is a very delight moment for us to share that Tilottama is the first city for declaring itself a plastic free city all across the country, Local government has enforced a rule of charging fine too for polluters and ragging them publicly, School administrative have also enforced a law where school children are not allowed to bring junk food at school. Being a part of this campaign I am very glad to share this to all of you, I would like to offer huge respect to all the Tilottama residence for collaborating for  change as well as greenery Nepal, Nipesh Dhaka sir who is also the winner of Guinness book of the world record for ¡°Melanchology¡± where 365 singers sang a common environmental song to encourage and inspire everyone for the change and effort that we can contribute to this environment.  It has been estimated that large volume of polythene in tilottama municipality (126.2 sq. km) has been swiped away. It is such a proud and inspiring moment for all of us to see such a huge change in our region.

Thanks to all of them who had been directly and indirectly involved in such a great campaign.

Here is the link of the activist who has been working day and night for the success of this campaign. Big salute and respect to such a great eco hero.

  • Sang Su Mentor says :
HI Sandhya, this is Sang Su Lee mentor from South Korea.

That's really good campaign that reaps benefits not only on your society, but also on the global environment. Plastic is one of substances that rots the slowest. All substances (organic and inorganic) should go back to the ecosystem (where they are from) to become recycles. However, it is almost impossible to make plastics to do so. 'It is better not to make plastic products' is what your city is thinking about I guess. That's really good.

Currently, many scientists are taking unbeaten paths of making commercially available biodegradable plastics. I hope they develop this technology soon.

Thank you for introducing such a nice campaign.

    Best,

  • Taehyun Mentor says :
Hello Sandhya! Greeting from your new mentor Taehyun!

Wow! I'm surprised by what your municipality had achieved! Removing plastic from everyday life must be hard...! I can't even imagine what that life looks like! Great job :)
Polythene is the most widely used oil-based plastic product which you guys all know! It can be applied to a plastic bag or clothes or even a waterproof bag, etc. And removing that much amount of polythene must be a really hard job.

I hope challenges like this to spread all across the world and remove various types of plastic!
Thank you for your article! It was insightful!
