Man-made technology has harnessed our eco-system like forests, land, oceans, river basins uncontrollably. It has put the sustainability of our environment at risk as human beings have used it unbridled without any consideration to environment. Human beings while enjoying the technological development forgot that our resources are limited as they used more natural resources than our Earth can reproduce. On the contrary there is “Nature’s technology” that is inherently an indispensable part of our Earth since its inception. No human technology can fully replace ‘nature’s technology’ that has been perfectly delivering key services to sustain life on Earth since centuries. There is no denying the fact that man-made technology has shaped our society and economy. Today we all eco-warriors are connected through a common virtual platform of Tunza Eco Gen because of technology. Within a minute we can deliver our message to the whole world through internet. No doubt. technology is a double edged sword - has been disadvantageous as well as advantageous for our environment quality. It is harmful for our environment if it is not used in compliance with natural resources. For example, electronics or electrical items that is the basic component of technology, it create lots of waste when not disposed of properly. There a.re new cars with advanced technology in the market every now and then but with that there is an unnecessary increase in our carbon footprint. After years of uproar on international level by environmentalists, technological innovations are being done to mitigate the over consumption of resources and to create awareness amongst the large mass. There is a tilt towards using more wind turbines, wave machines, bio gas and solar panels and other renewable energy sources to sustain the life on earth. The technology that brought climate change and environment problems, if used eco-friendly way, same technology can help us reduce our emissions, the amount of waste we produce and our carbon foot print and gradually help us to sustain our environment. |

Certainly one can't say whether a technology is good or bad. It's just how people use it that determines its role to the society. Dealing with the environmental issues, it is exactly the same. The same technology can either enhance or destroy the environment. Therefore I hope many people are aware of the importance of the sustainable development and take extra care when implementing variety of technologies.

It's Lisa your mentor.
Indeed technology is a double-edged sword that can be used to both harm the environment and protect the environment.
I think in terms of technological innovation, it is important to know the direction of the development and to have the right value judgement.
Hence, it is really a matter of on what we put importance and what we prioritize.
