No one is too small to make a difference. Through my article I want to talk about a famous environmental young activist Greta Thunberg and her book “No one is too small to make a difference”. When I read about her life and her book it inspired me to the hilt. Coincidentally, I share my birth year with her and I also have been exposed to sustainable living like her since childhood. But Greta’s environmental mindset is far beyond. Her unbridled passion to save the climate and her daring ground breaking speeches in world forum amazes me. At the age of 15 she was on a school strike outside the Swedish Parliament with a motto to save our climate. Over 1 million school children has joined her mission. The movement is called “ Fridays for Future”. She has spoken at climate summit across Europe. To reduce her carbon footprint she does not like to fly and she is vegan in order to reduce meat consumption. Recently her speeches in World Economic Forum in Davos made world wide impact. No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference is a famous book written by her. It was published on 30 May 2019. It consists of a collection of eleven speeches which she has written and presented about global warming and the climate crisis. They are – Our lives are in your hands, Unpopular, Prove me wrong, Our house is on Fire, I am too young to do this, You are acting like spoiled, irresponsible children, A strange world, Cathedral Thinking, Together we are making a difference, Can you hear me? Following are few of the snippets from her famous speech- Almost everything is Black and White “When I was eight years old, I first heard about something called climate change, or global warming……. I was told to turn off the lights to save energy and to recycle papers to save resources…. If burning fuels was so bad that it threatened our very existence, how could we continue like before? Why were there no restictions? Why wasn’t it made illegal?” All the speeches in the book are very powerful and convincing. She wants us to take the situation as an emergency rather than just hoping for the best. She wants us to recognize what is happening so we can act and prevent any more destruction. We all need to take up more responsibility for our actions against nature even if it is small. Through her speeches in the book she has made a rippling effect on an international level. |

She is certainly one of the most enthusiastic youth in the world who is working hard to save the planet. For the thematic report of September many ambassadors wrote about her story, and reading this book would enable people to understand her thoughts deeper and more thoroughly. It's Lisa your mentor.
I really love your title indeed no one is too small to make differences. Greta I think really showed that to the world. Who would've thought that an elementary school kid would change the world and change the way people think? I think it's her passion that made her able to be such a significant figure in the world.
You and other ambassadors in this community I think are no different from Greta and you guys are true influencers of the world.
So continue your work and I will always support you:)
