It was a weekend when I visited my friend in the evening so that I could take his laptop home to watch some movies. I was welcomed with bad news that he had mistakenly deleted all the movies he was only left with a boring movie that seemed to be a documentary. I took the laptop home and the movie was on the desktop, "Before the Flood" and I watched it on that day. Before the Flood is a 2016 documentary film about climate change directed by Fisher Stevens. The film was produced as a collaboration between Stevens, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Packer, Brett Ratner, Trevor Davidoski, and Jennifer Davisson Killoran. Martin Scorsese is an executive producer. Leonardo DiCaprio travels around the globe to witness first hand the devastating effects of climate change and what can be done to solve the climate crisis. In his journey he met experts such as scientists and political leaders such as Barack Obama to discuss the causes, the solutions and their responsiveness to climate change. Observations that Leonardo made in his journey were the issues of carbon tax, people being ignorant to climate change and effects of the climate change being experienced. Carbon tax was the issue in the documentary movie with more focus on the United States of America. Carbon tax is the tax paid to the government by industries which are releasing gases into the air when producing. The multi million dollar question was will the carbon tax repay the damaged ozone layer? The importance of carbon tax is to give pain to the industries when using non renewable energy to make them switch to renewable energy such as solar. The film takes a closer look into the possibility of a carbon tax benefiting the American nation. In addition, they state that, "the carbon emissions from Before the Flood were offset through a voluntary carbon tax. The political leaders were less aware of the climate change issues, the film urged us people to use our vote rightly so that those who can act can be our leaders. The world now needs leaders who can act to combat the unfortunate incidents from climate change such as floods. The leaders and people do not believe in science therefore we all need to be convinced with the effects but we are ignoring them. We are ignoring the Australian wild fires, the meeting of the Antarctica's ice and the disappearance of islands in our oceans. We are casting a blind eye to a threat that is around. Media is the best way to reach out to people, the Leonardo's film reached millions within a day of its release and won many awards to indicate it had great message to the world. We now have to work so that we can achieve through having solutions to the greatest threat to humanity. It is NOW, we can change the world with useful and better actions towards climate change. if not then we are Co authors to our Apocalypse. Join Before the Flood movement https://www.beforetheflood.com/ act so that we can save our world. Hello Mufaro
I can see that quite a few ambassadors are impressed with this film. Every time I read an article about this film, I feel great about the action of Leonardo DiCaprio, who is currently a famous actor in Hollywood. I can see that this film emphasizes the importance of great leader who can actually change the current situation. I totally agree with the role of great leaders in preservation of the environment. This film will make people aware of the issue, and might lead to the election of the environmental leader one day in the future.
Thank you for the great report!

Hey Mufaro!
It's Lisa.
I watched the movie myself as well and thought it was a really influential documentary film.
This film and also the other movies and books that the ambassadors have recommended are really inspiring. I totally agree with you that the media is one of those great ways to change the world. I think with all these false news and wrong information prevailing in the world, great media should be produced and consumed more.
Thanks for the great report!
