Eco-friendly New Year

by Nikolay Dagaev | 17-12-2019 21:15 recommendations 0

Like most folk festivals, Christmas and New Year are a serious burden on the ecosystem. So, what do you need to meet the eco-friendly New Year?
Do I need a tree?

If you can not imagine a New Year holiday without a Christmas tree, but still want the holiday to be eco-friendly, consider the following options.
If you have a spruce or pine tree growing in the yard-dress it up. Let pleases the eye with its charm and freshness. In addition to dance in the meadows near a spruce in the yard much nicer than in the house.
If you decide to buy a real forest beauty, then buy it at licensed Christmas markets. Trees grown in specially organized nurseries are sold there, which means that the wild forest does not suffer. After the holidays, the tree must be handed over for processing, it will subsequently produce paper, cardboard, cellulose fiber, wood chips or vegetable substrate... a Good example of waste-free production in action.
If your choice is artificial spruce, then avoid polyvinyl chloride. It's toxic plastic. Its production is harmful to the environment. And one more minus: PVC (PVC) shall not be accepted for recycling from individuals. In stores IKEA you can purchase PET from eating. Scientists have come up with a wonderful way to recycle this base using bacteria species Ideonellasakaiensis 201-F6 to the original components.
You can also make a Christmas tree with your own hands from eco-friendly materials.
Eco decorations: Christmas decor in eco-style

The second question: what to decorate the Christmas tree? In fashion craft, handmade and maximum nature!

Give preference to Christmas toys made of environmentally friendly materials: cardboard or cotton wool, as in Soviet times, natural fabrics, glass... and since hand-made is very appreciated, and there are many master classes on the Internet, you can gather the whole family and make toys with your own hands. Decorations for Christmas trees can even be edible: useful candies, dried fruits, cookies. So, by the way, originally and dressed up Christmas trees. In Japan, the Christmas tree is decorated with edible rice balls. There is a belief: you need to eat as many balls as you are old, so that your life in the new year was successful and happy.
If you use lights, garlands or other battery-powered devices in the interior decoration, then replace disposable power sources with reusable rechargeable ones that can be charged in the charger from the mains. You can take ordinary batteries to specialized collection points.
If you want romance and candles, the perfect option will be candles made of beeswax or soy wax. Do not wear in the house articles of wax, since the combustion vapours fill the space and harm the health.

    Hi Lisa!
I'm sorry I'm so late answering. My opinion about the environmental new year is not at odds with the case. There are no garlands or other light decorations in our family. Instead, the house is decorated with homemade garlands and decorations. In our house, an artificial Christmas tree is used for decoration, which this year turned 13 years old. The decorations are also many years old, some of them older than me. As for gifts, we traditionally give each other something useful and not harmful to the environment. These can be Board games, theater tickets, or concert tickets. We never have lavish feasts, so we don't have to throw food away.

    Hey Nikolay,
    it's Lisa again.

Oooh here you have it again!
I think this is really a mind-breaking report people care about environment more than ever yet still you can see these fancy decorations all over the place that are going to end up in the trash can after few days!
These are definitely going to cause some damage to our environment but people tend to think it's irrelevant, or they're just being hypocritical!

I think you are making very productive criticism to the world here.
Meanwhile, what would be some alternative ways of celebrating Christmas?
    How did you spend yours?
I would love to hear about it!

    Thanks for the great article:)
