Trash Challenge Competition

We don¡¯t have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world. – Howard Zinn

Hello and Namaste from Nepal. On the dated of 23rd November 2019, we 14 people from Agriculture and forestry University voluntarily performed trash challenge at Chitwan,Nepal. I along with my college mates decided to go for the challenge and successfully completed despite of cold weather in the morning.

Agriculture and forestry university is a residential and there is park called Jubilee park near the Central library of the college. Movements of students during college days and many programs like festival celebrations and games are organized regularly but the park¡¯s condition is gradually declining due to the leftover plastic and glass wastes.

So, we had some informal meetings to make the surroundings free from pollution. Bhima thapa, president of Zero Debris Nepal and other 12 volunteers helped to make this event success. It was early morning, we decided to be there for the cause. During whole operation, a total of about 10 kg debris including food wrappers, alcohol and beverages bottles, plastic bottles, metals, etc were collected from Jubilee park. Since, the University doesn¡¯t have proper dumping site (most wastes are burned), the debris collects still waits to be sent in destined place and Bhima is managing for the municipality dumping sites. We will run this program at least twice a month.

All the volunteers who actively took part in this challenge and specially Bhima Thapa, President Zero Debris Nepal. It was a happy moment to hare about Tunza Eco Generation and its events with the people too. When I talk about Eco Generation, people are always craving to listen mora about it 

    Hello Bal krishna

    Another great action from you.
You always seem to come up with creative and effective ideas which includes many people engaging in your program.
It's good that through the program people gathered a lot of trash, but considering this month's topic marine life, I wonder where those trashes might end up.

Thank you for sharing your great experience, and I look forward to read your next report.
