Thematic report- Marine life |

Belonging to the landlocked country, I always miss the peaceful beaches and incessant flowing waves of sea. I miss experiencing what actually it happens to be touched by those fresh air from sea, curves of waves and all those beautiful species enjoying marine life. Nevertheless, I satisfy my this curiosity through web obeserving and getting to know about the interesting facts, habitat and niche of them either through medias or through my visit to some overseas country in vacation.
But at times, it's very heart pricking to acknowledge all those very disappointing news about marine bodies. Marine life, or sea life or ocean life, is the plants, animals and other organisms that live in the salt water of the sea or ocean, or the brackish water of coastal estuaries. At a fundamental level, marine life affects the nature of the planet. Have you heard about dolphin's "smile"? It is actually an illusion. So is our belief that these animals can heal. After all, as everyone can see, the dolphins are smiling. However, their ¡°smile,¡± which is not a smile at all but an anatomical illusion arising from the configuration of their jaws, makes people believe—wrongly—that the animals are always content. Dolphins are being captured, sold into slavery captivity. They are not well treated and supplied with nutrition and rest. Behind the dolphins smile lies a sad story of them. When these creatures can hide their all the pain just to entertain human beings but the same human are ill treating those beautiful creatures. Dolphin has a greatest role in maintaining ecosystem. Dolphins are important to the environment because they can be good natural indicators of the biome conservation. As they are apex predators, they consume several species of fish and squid concentrating in their bodies the possible contaminants in the water. I have taken dolphin as just a representative. Everyone of us is well known about the fact that how marine body has been used these days either in aquarium or through some other means for entertainment purpose without considering their welfare. We have also encountered many unhumane activities that has threatened their lives like huge mass of plastic products in the body of dead whales and several fishes. This is very much vulnerable condition. These act has challenged not only the marine creatures but also the several other terrestrial creatures infact a whole ecosystem and a earth in nutshell. Now it's still not too late. Let's work together and beat the plastic pollution along with speak for welfare of animals for the good of marine cretures along with for everyone. |

Hello Asmita
I can see some thoughts that came across your mind in contacting with beaches.
I've visited to several aquariums around the world and every time I visit them, I was fascinated by its beautiful sights. However, on the other hand, I never got to think about the pain those sea creatures are suffering. Some aquariums are considered big, but still those are just tiny bit compared to their original home regions. Now I strongly believe that those aquariums are no way good for the sea animals, but just for the small joy of the humans. I hope the day with true harmony between the humans and the marine environment comes as soon as possible.
Thank you for the great report.

Hello Asmita,
this is Lisa.
Dolphine is definitely one of my favorite marine animals they not only look adorable but the community life that they form and maintain gives us many lessons and teaches us values that we often forget in our capitalistic and individualistic life.
I feel like that the golden rule of 'stepping into other person's shoes' comes important in the environmental agenda as well for we all live in different surroundings that there are problems that only some of us experience. Landlocked countries could easily be ignorant of the problem that happens in the sea while the island states might have little or no interest involving the issues that landlocked countries are facing. Yet, these environments and ecosystems are all interlocked and even if it seems that we are not directly influenced by these problems, in the long term we are all the person in the matter. Hence, we have to try to stay aware of problems in our own regions as well as those in other places.
In this sense, it's good to see that you as the ambassador of Tunza are aware and caring of the marine ecosystem as well even though you might not have direct experience of it!
Thanks for the great report and I hope that others who might be ignorant and careless of problems outside their surroundings would become more like you and us:)

Hello Asmita! Greetings from Russia! I didn't even know that dolphins play such a big role in maintaining the ecosystem.
I live in the city, which is located on the shore of the sea of Azov. Once our sea was almost fresh, it was found a huge number of fish and even such rare species as sturgeon. However, within a century, the water became salty, and the enterprises operating in the city polluted the water so much that the current situation may well be called an environmental disaster.
