Management of used tyres is a challange in urban areas. Once these rubber tyres are used for certain distance the friction causes wear and tear and they can no longer be used as they are. We see them dumped around the garage, near river banks and dumping sites. They are non biodegradable meaning they are not decayed. They cannot be burned in the soil or fire. They emit poisonous foul smelling gas with large amount of coal and tar.
The following soultion can be effective in proper management of tyres. They can be used in kitchen garden and the concept is called urban tyre gardening. The pilot project was held in a high school where the tyre was filled with compost, soil and gravel prepared to plant flowers. Artitistically painted tyres addes more to the scene. #tunzaecogeneration #gogreen #tyregardening |

Hello Sachin
What a creative way of utilizing used tyres. I didn't know about the harms those tyres give to the surrounding environment, tyre gardening seems like a perfect way to get rid of the pollution from used tyres.
I hope more ways of utilizing used tyres are developed, because there are huge amount of cars on the roads and I can't imagine the number of tyres being thrown away. It would be very helpful if each local region has their way of treating used tyres.
Thank you for the great report. It was very interesting.
Keep up the good work.

Hey Sachin!
It's Lisa once again!
Wow! I am truly amazed by your idea to use the used tyres as the vessels for planting the flowers. I think it's great that you have provided other people in your community experience of upcycling to protect the environment with creativity.
Experience is always the biggest motivation and inspiration for innovative actions. I feel like these people that have had the opportunity to plant in these used tyres will later engage to protect our environment in their own way.
Nice work ambassador:)
Keep up the good work and green cheers for you!
