Lake Ontario is one of the Five Great lakes of North America and borders both USA and Canada. Its waters are amongst the clearest I have ever seen and is home to numerous aquatic species. On the flip side , it also has the amongst the highest marine traffic on its waters and alongwith it has numerous factories on its shores.
The beaches along Lake Ontario draws thousands of visitors , both local residents and tourists and this too has an ecological impact due to the litter that they leave behind. During my recent visit to Canada , I met with up a local environmentally conscious youth group and joined them in a shoreline cleanup at Lake Ontario.
