THE MEANING OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

By sustainable development we mean the use and exploitation if today?s resources in such a way that these resources will be available for use by future generation. In other words consumption today with tomorrow in mind, among all other reports I will always insist on sustainable development this is the core of my ambassadorship, I want the future generations to appreciate the efforts we took today to make sure they enjoy the same privileges we were blessed to have. In almost all my reports sustainability has been one among the topics, and today I share to you the meaning of sustainable development in tourism.

Tourism involves the movement from one place to another for the purpose of viewing different leisure, historical, natural sites and many other reasons can form tourism. The tourism industry can be described as sum of persons, facilities, places, activities and businesses that are involved in satisfying or servicing travelers from different geographical areas. In other words everything from car rentals to sleeping accommodation, currency, safari, food, and drinks and much more.

In the world Tanzania is the second country to have a lot of beautiful tourist sites after Brazil, in a year Tanzania receives a lot of tourist from outside the country not to mention those doing domestic tourism. In a county with such privilege it has been of our great concern not only to provide customers satisfaction but also our core function is to preserve the beauty for the future generation. The Tanzania national parks and ngorongoro conservation area are number one stake holders in sustainable tourism. Unlike other parts of the world in Tanzania we practice quality tourism whereas we promote the maintenance of the natural beauty in our sites, like maintain the ecological system of our national parks. Making sure that in the process of doing tourism activities animals are not disturbed in any way that would threat their ecosystem.

The demand of the tourism for quality environment is a major force for sustainable tourism development. We learn clearly from countries like Germany how they have succeeded in promoting sustainable development through tourism. When we realized that tourism is more dependent to the environment than any other industry, our countries authorities decide to invest on conservation of our sites.  Not to forget sustainable tourism also involves preservation of culture, local culture and lifestyle of local people plays an important role in tourism experience. This has managed to open important opportunities for local people and they become more involved in the tourism industry. Lastly I welcome you also the land of many sites, from wildlife, to historical sites,, beautiful beaches, and landscapes, flower parks, highest peak in Africa, deepest lakes in the world and many other attractive features.
