GREEN DIESEL IS MANDATORY IN UAE |

As of July 1, 2014, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has been the first organisation in the region to commence the sale of ultra-low sulphur diesel. ENOC is implementing the UAE Federal Cabinet decision on making the use of the environment-friendly ?green diesel? mandatory across the UAE. In a recent meeting it was resolved to promote awareness on the importance of the new greener fuel standards. The ultra-low sulphur diesel is more environment-friendly and helps in reducing toxic vehicle exhaust emissions. 90% of the diesel used in the UAE going towards the transport sector. For the first time in the region, the UAE has now set a clear guideline on the standards to be followed in using diesel. An inspection campaign will be held to ensure that the diesel used conforms to the new federal standards from September 7, 2014. The Dubai Civil Defence will inspect fuel tanks, equipment and fuel tankers to ensure that they meet acceptable standards. Dubai Municipality will do inspection of diesel storage sites and use of fuel tanks. Saeed Khoory, CEO, ENOC explained that the concerted efforts by the governmental stakeholders and ENOC will help reduce the carbon footprint of the UAE, promote safe usage of diesel and bring value to the industry supply chain, which has been impacted adversely by illegal diesel vendors |

Well reported Neha. Green diesel will reduce the pollution in UAE to a great extent. As such the pollution is under control. The authorities are taking extra precaution to be more careful & pro active.

As the one biggest of all the pollutants (motor vehicle emissions),fuel companies should bear in mind that clean and fuel technologies like such can help in cabbing and reducing global warming effects. A really commendable step by the UAE and ENOC

UAE is always pioneer in taking the enviro-friendly initiatives. We welcome this move by using low sulphur diesel. Thanks for the report Neha.

Green Diesel is more sustainable because it has only 10ppm of sulphur compared to 500ppm in the diesel used in the region. This is a perfect fit to the ‘green economy for sustainable development?? initiative launched by UAE. Thanks for sharing, Neha :)

With 90% of the diesel used in the UAE going towards the transport sector and its demand growing by at least 4% annually, it is important to take strong measures to ensure quality and environmental standards. The use of low-standard diesel, often sourced from illegal vendors, not only impacts the economy negatively but also leads to environmental degradation and health & safety hazards. Thank you Neha for the information. UAE is really into greener and healthy world. Recent articles published in tunza ambassador proves that. ULSD program should be promoted in other part of the world specially oil exporting countries.
