We united, joined hands for the clean environment and the alarming global warmings impact A honorable day, floods of people on their nearby street to make the environment sound and clean. On the occasion of? Clean Up, The world Weekend?(20th September,2014), Clean Up Nepal undertaken nationwide cleanup where clean-ups were carried out at the same time at over 70 locations throughout Nepal between 7am and 11am, Embracing the slogan ?Join the Green Revolution, Stop Neighborhood Pollution?.
The road were showered with lots of people with great enthusiasm in cleaning the road and nearby street. Different program were organized throughout the country to mark the ? Clean up world weekend ?,ranging from the street cleaning to planting the seedlings in the roadside as well as in fallow land for the clean and green environment.
In collaboration with various organization, local partners, civil society? Clean Up Nepal ? orgazined the 2nd nationwide cleaning campaign in various cities of Nepal. Clean Up pokhara chapter organize the ?street cleaning Program ? from different street and finally meeting at the sayaptri chowk. It was like 10,20?.and the hundreds of people were on the street with uneven ages, caste, religion standing for the common mission cleaning the environment and I(core member of Pokhara chapter) am glad that I was a part of it. About , one lakhs 60 kg of solid waste were collected from various parts of the country.
Dedication of the local people, those women groups leading the campaign including the old age people in the street in Pokhara was really a challenge for the youth to stand up. It was like a alley of people in the street, some with gloves in their hands, some carrying bags to collect those solid waste, some were busy in managing the crowd, some giving direction to unknown people. Joining the event one day and cleaning doesn?t make any sense if it can?t sustain for long!!!
To address sustainability of the cleaning, clean up Nepal, Pokhara chapter is organizing the cleaning event in every 15 days involving the local people or the residents of the area, which in turn lure them in doing so in a long run. Using the adequate things, throwing it on the street and standing to clean is not the thing, instead using less, reusing if possible can solution indeed.

So happy to read about this great movement uniting all stakeholders to work towards cleaner and greener Nepal. If every 15 days , people /residents are involved in such intensive cleaning , then next time before littering they will think twice. Such clean up events are not only an evidence of great team work but also goes to spread positive message to self and entire community/nation.

Everyday I wish and pray for "my country" to be as agile and lively as these people in the pictures above, conservation wise that is. You people are such an inspiring sight, just seeing you jointly work together for a common goal of conservation means a Hercules of a job for our well being...thank you for the video Bhawana Rijasl. I wish to make this cleaning campaigns compulsory for every state as a public holiday.
