CLEAN INDIA MISSION

by | 09-10-2014 03:18 recommendations 0

I would like to introduce a very accurate mission launched by the Indian Government.

Swachh Bharat Mission is a mission launched by the Government of  India for ensuring hygiene, waste management and sanitation across the nation.

Swach Bharat  aims at building over 800 million toilets and setting up modern sewage systems to make India free from open defecation and open drains in the next five years is said to be the PM's tribute to Gandhi, whose 150th anniversary will be celebrated in 2019.

After paying tribute at the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, himself swept a pavement at Valmiki Basti, a colony of sanitation workers before the formal launch of the 'Clean India' drive at Rajpath. While launching the mission at Mandir Marg, he also made a surprise visit at the local police station to check on its cleanliness. Modi asked people to take pictures of areas where they saw garbage, then clean the area and take pictures of the clean area. He asked people to upload these images on social media using MyGov, a mobile application. He further flagged off a walkathon as part of the Swachh Bharat Campaign.

Millions of people across the country are also joining daily the cleanliness initiatives of the government departments, NGOs and local community centers to make India completely clean by 2019.

It is important that we take steps for the development of our country. I truly appreciate this great initiative and hope it will be a lesson for each one of us. I believe that countries of world that appear clean are so because their citizens do not indulge in littering nor do they allow it to happen. For a litter free nation change the minds of people and be the change!

Hats off to PM Modi. He is a revolutionary and a visionary leader. Giving so much emphasis on cleanliness shows how much in depth he thinks to make India a developed , clean and respected country. He himself took broom in his hand to show "Practice before you preach". Waste/Litter free nation is his mission.
