The vision of tomato is something red, juicy and delicious, the perfect addition to any meal. When I think about it, tomatoes are the most prevalent fruit and yes it is a fruit in my diet. I add it to salads, use it as a ketchup, salsa, pasta sauce and even drink a glass of it as vegetable juice. So I am a big fan of tomatoes :D

Over 60 million tonnes are produced every year! * There are around 10,000 varieties of tomato! * Tomatoes were discovered by the Spanish in South and Central America where the Aztec people in Mexico and the Incas in Peru were already eating them. * When the Spanish brought tomatoes back with them in around 1556, people thought they were poisonous because the plant is in the same family as the plant called ?deadly nightshade?. * The French used to call them ?pommes d?amour? or ?love apples?! * Every August in Spain there is a festival called ?Tomatina? when thousands of people throw tomatoes at each other! * A tomato is a fruit because it grows on a stalk and has seeds. Some are yellow, not red. * One tomato plant can produce about 15 tomatoes. * Green tomatoes ripen faster if they are stored with apples. * The world record for the largest tomato ever was set in 1986 with a tomato weighing 3.51 kg, as heavy as a new born baby! Tomatoes , Tomatoes it seems you knew that it is my favorite vegetables , when my Mom let me cut and made salad , then for sure salad will be without tomatoes because I ready eat them and I just cut the remaining vegetables looooool

Thanks for sharing interesting facts about tomato. I also observed the same like Unmesh about throwing tomatoes which I feel is sheer wastage and anti environment. 15 tomatoes from 1 tomato plant -is amazing. Thanks , Dharmendra.

Even though, I don't like Tomato, I liked your article!!! But Tomatina festival - I am not very sure if this can be regarded as a very environment friendly activity or not...thx for the report

Besides the rich benefits, tomatoes are usually just us for juice, it turns Tomato fruit can also be used as a variety of processed products . In Indonesia, Tomato fruit can also be made sweets. And more interestingly, when considered in view of the candied tomato fruit is very similar to a date .
Tomato fruit sweets or better known as Torakur (Tomato flavor Dates) is a proper snack . even I also had to make jam from the fruit of the tomato.

Tomato is my favorites salad ingredient on a supper table.
It is a good source to augment the blood content in our body.

That's a great post for tomatoes. Tomatoes are fruit but we use it like vegetable.

Tomatoes are delicious!! My friends don't like them because they're smelly. Anyway, these facts are amazing. I've never known that tomato is in the same family as another poisonous fruit. But, I'm not quite sure if tomatoes are being considered as fruit already. However, thanks for sharing, Dharmendra!
